Friday 17th April 2020

Intention to co-opt onto the Town Council for the Passfield Ward.

As no request for election was received by Durham County Council for the current Town Council vacancy for the Passfield Ward, it is the Council's intention to co-opt to the vacancy.

Anyone interested in apply for the position of Town Councillor can do so by completing the form available to download here.  The form can be completed electronically and emailed back to the Council, or printed and completed by hand and posted or delivered to the Town Council's offices at Shotton Hall, Peterlee SR8 2PH

Fully completed application forms must be submitted by 10am on Friday 24th April 2020 and the Town Council will look to make an appointment at the Council meeting on Monday 27th April.  If more than one eligible candidate comes forward the matter will be resolved by a vote at the meeting.

2.     The Annual Governance and Accountability Return is available for inspection by any local government elector of the area of the Council on application to:

  1. Date of Announcement: 25th June 2019
  2. Each year Peterlee Town Council’s Annual Governance and Accountability Return is audited by an auditor appointed by Public Sector Audit Appointments Limited.

Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the accounts to be audited and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them.

For the year ended 31st March 2019, the accounts and supporting documents will be  available on reasonable notice on application to:

Members Allowances

Notice is hereby given that at a meeting of the Peterlee Town Council held on 25th February 2019 Members considered recommendations from the Independent Remuneration Panel established by Durham County Council in respect of parish members’ allowances, made in accordance with the Local Authorities (Members Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003.  The current and agreed level of allowance paid to Peterlee Town Council Members is £1,206.84.  This is £123.16 less than the £1,330.00 recommended maximum from the Remuneration Panel of DCC. The Independent Remuneration Panel recommended the following basic allowance for parish and town councillors within County Durham.

The Panel also made recommendations relating to travel and subsistence allowances and these were accepted also at the meeting. A copy of the Independent Remuneration Panel’s recommendations can be inspected at the Town Council’s Office, Shotton Hall, Peterlee SR8 2PH during normal office hours and can be supplied free of charge on application to the Town Clerk at the address given below. Documents are also posted on the Town Council’s website www.peterlee.gov.uk
