Peterlee Town Council Announces Pre-Contract Sale of Shotton Hall for Future Use as SEN School

Peterlee Town Council is pleased to confirm that it has entered into a pre-contract agreement for the sale of Shotton Hall to a selected bidder. The intended future use of the site subject to planning will be as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, providing critical educational resources for children with additional needs.

Following a comprehensive market testing process, the Council carefully assessed all proposals to identify a bidder whose vision aligned with its commitment to community service and sustainable development. The pre-contract agreement marks a key milestone in securing the future of Shotton Hall and ensuring it continues to benefit the residents of Peterlee.

Chief Officer/Town Clerk of Peterlee Town Council, Ian Hall, commented that: “We are excited to take this important step forward for Shotton Hall,” “The transformation of the site into a SEN school will address a growing need for specialised educational facilities in the area, ensuring children with additional needs have access to the support they require to thrive.”

The pre-contract phase will involve detailed discussions and planning to ensure the project meets the highest standards of design, accessibility, and functionality. The Council and the bidder are committed to a collaborative approach to delivering a facility that enriches the lives of students and their families.

Further updates, including timelines and development plans, will be shared as the project progresses. Peterlee Town Council thanks the community for its input throughout this process and looks forward to seeing Shotton Hall play a pivotal role in supporting inclusive education.
