In November the Mayor of Peterlee, Councillor Mrs Mary Cartwright, held a ‘Design a Christmas Card’ competition and all of the primary schools in Peterlee were invited to participate.
The Mayor visited the two schools which submitted entries into the competition to judge all of the entries personally. The results are as follows: –
- Overall Winner – Charlotte Caygill, Age 9, Year 5, Seascape Primary School
- Winner of School – Jacob Benson, Age 4, Class 6, Shotton Hall Primary School
- Runner-up – Joey Guest, Age 4, Class 6, Shotton Hall Primary School
- Runner-up – Evie Davis, Age 3, Class 6, Shotton Hall Primary School
- Runner-up – Annalise Hunter, Age 9, Year 5, Seascape Primary School
- Runner-up – Ruby Downing, Age 9, Year 5, Seascape Primary School
The overall winner, Charlotte Caygill from Seascape Primary School, will receive a £30.00 gift voucher and have her design framed for her to keep as a memento. The design will also be used as the Mayor’s official Christmas Card for 2016.
Jacob Benson from Shotton Hall Primary School won the ‘school winner’ prize and will receive a £20.00 gift voucher, and all runners-up will receive a £10.00 gift voucher.
Cllr Mary Cartwright said: “I was amazed at the quality of this year’s entries. Well done to all the children who put forward entries this year and thank you for making my decision a really difficult one!”
