It’s that time of year again where you can get out into the fresh air and prepare to showcase your beautiful gardens.
Peterlee residents clearly love their gardens as we received lots of amazing entries into our annual garden competition last year! It was amazing to see the passion and energy
that everyone has put into their gardens, big or small and across all ages.
If you have a garden, big or small – show it off to one and all!
With categories to suit all types of gardens plus brand new categories, there really is something for everyone!
Judging will take place on Wednesday 12th July, with an Awards Presentation being held at Shotton Hall on Thursday 20th July 2023.

King Charles III Coronation – Saturday 6th May 2023

On Saturday 6th May 2023, King Charles III will become the fortieth Sovereign to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, with The Queen Consort being crowned beside him.

Westminster Abbey has been the setting for every Coronation since 1066, with William the Conqueror being the first monarch to be crowned there.

The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was the first to be televised and for most people, it was the first time they had watched an event on television.

Their Majesties’ Coronation will be the first to be live-streamed via social media.

Closed Season at Shotton Hall Angling Club – No Fishing in the month of May

Well, it’s oh-fish-ially Closed Season

There is no fishing permitted at Shotton Hall Pond during every calendar month of May. This is to broadly coincide with the coarse fish spawning season. This also gives the pond and surroundings a rest and allows improvement work to be carried out.

Anyone fishing the pond during this closed season will be asked to leave and will be banned from the Shotton Hall Angling Club syndicate.

The pond will re-open on Thursday 1st June 2023.

Time for some eggs-tra creative fun this Easter with crafts, an egg hunt in the Park plus a special visit from Peter Rabbit (photo opportunity) on TUESDAY 4TH APRIL at Woodhouse Park, Peterlee.
Everybunny will receive an Easter treat!
Join the Friends of Woodhouse Park from a choice of 2 sessions to choose from –
10am until 12Noon or 1pm until 3pm
The crafts will take place inside the community building, due to room capacity no pushchairs or prams are permitted.
The event is for ages 3 years +
All on-site activities will take part at Woodhouse Park, just off Balliol Close, Peterlee, SR8 2NX.

The Warm Welcome Café will be opening at Shotton Hall Banqueting Suites, Peterlee, SR8 2PH on Tuesday 7th March 2023, from 9am until 4pm.
 
Our community Café provides a warm welcoming environment for the whole community to come and enjoy a cuppa or something more yummy.
 
Just connecting with another person over a coffee can mean the world to someone.
 
All food is cooked and served by volunteers for the community, not for profit –
